"Under an Holy Ritual" (SVV004), very well
known ritual ambient music milestone on 12" LP and the
totally new and exclusive Alio Die studio work titled "Aurea
Hora" (SVV007) released on vinyl 10".
Both vinyls (here in clear wax) are enclosed in an amazing
and special de-luxe plexiglas Box Set. The release is limited

Debut recording from
italy 's opalio brothers (my cat is an alien) and ramona ponzini.
an esoteric and mesmerizing trip through space, minimalism,
and emotion. each track recorded at a different mystical location
in the western alps, and centered around ramona 's beautiful
vocals, all of which are sung in traditional japanese. maurizio
& roberto add sparse accompaniment by means of toy piano,
alien keyboard tones, antique accordion, percussion, tape
effects, and some particularly evocative acoustic guitar.
the whole thing comes off alternately as deeply meditative
or chillingly haunted, depending on your attention & mood.
silence, space & ritual are hugely important here, with
notes & words hovering frozen in time... while the my
cat is alien moniker might leave some folks scratching their
heads, here the painting petals on plant ghost name nails
it : fragile, beautiful, cosmically isolationist, and totally
spooked... pressed on 180 gram virgin vinyl, and lushly packaged
with letterpress printed cover & insert. printed with
copper ink on exquisite & massively thick handmade ivory
art paper, each sheet cast one at a time & air dried.

gipsy sphinx that also just released the vanishing voice 'nordic
visions' set. here karl bauer uses violin, vocals, electronics
and percussion to assemble swathes of hypnotic, tripped-out
noise that falls somewhere between terry riley's circular,
pulsing explorations, sonic boom's radiophonic workshop gargles
and swirls, and burning star core / vibracathedral's wall
of sound. the a-side is an ecstatic fog with the b-side the
gentle star-gazing come-down. superb and highly recommended. |

A new addition to the magik markers discography (the first
vinyl to reach us following the essential ecstatic peace lp)
is this tasty and limited vinyl splatter on the french textile
label, featuring elisa with various line-ups of the band from
the 'traditional' elisa, leah and pete nolan trio to variations
including the addition of underground enigma joshua burkett.
surprisingly mellower than most markers paint-peelers, this
beauty combines supreme no-wave / early sonic youth racket
with more introverted atmospheric basement explorations. all
in all fab stuff from one of the most vital noise-making ensembles
around. highly recommended, limited to 500 only, mostly sold
on tour and not likely to hang around too long! |
