BIDIBOP ( FR )

---> file under sweet electronica

Vincent Nicolas, musician and sound engineer formed his first band a Automne ‡ Lob-nor in 1998 dedicated to post-rock. Once the group splitt, Nicolas creats his own Bidibop project, in which he embraces the and the guitars. A sound that drinks of the English post-punk of Anne Clark, Jesus & Mary Chain and John Foxx, up to nowadays ambient glitch. All he shaped in this disc of nine tracks, that it moves on the deep and thick waters that cover by keyboards lines and drum machine. Here there is no track to be more than enough, because each one contributes and shows the electronics analogue kindness. From the space atmospheres of ëToday's butterflies still there in my dreamsí, to the Kraftwerian ëStars hunterí and the melancholic guitars of ëFirst step in snowí and the guitar feed-back effect on ëMissUrí. This last cut would be one of the most remarkable cuts of this album for the sonic intensity of synthesizers and guitar riff. More info. at the labelís site www.cartepostalerecords.be and at the artistís web page www.zone51.com/bidibop

3____________LABEL OF THE MONTH

RUNNE GRAMMOFON (Norway)

Rune Grammofon is a Norwegian record label founded in 1998 by Rune Kristoffersen.

Rune Grammofon's reputation for lovingly issued electronic, jazz, and improv music has grown over the years with its artists being featured heavily in magazines such as The Wire.

The label is home to the widely respected improv group Supersilent as well as the solo work of its members including Deathprod and Arve Henriksen. A couple other notable releases are Susanna and the Magical Orchestra, Jono El Grande, Skyphone, Alog/Phonophani and Food (band).

In 2000, the label signed a distribution deal with ECM, which increased the label's audience considerably. This deal has come to an end early 2005.

In November of 2003 the label celebrated its 30th release by issuing a set that included a two CD compilation and a book that displayed each of Kim Hiorth¯y's highly praised digipak designs.
