Chers clients, amis, aficionados de musique, altermusical addicts, imperturbables chercheurs de sons et autres , nouveaux hippies, freaks, derniers utopistes...et utopistes concrets. Je vous souhaite une excellente année 2006. Pour les français, un Roland Castro présidentiable en 2006 et donc président en 2007. Pour les américains, c'est même plus la peine de le dire. Pour le monde, un retour des utopies, une critique sévère des pensées uniques, la recréation de liens sociaux et plus d'engagement et de militantisme.
Dear customers, friends, music aficionados, altermusic addicts, imperturbable researchers of sounds and other oddities, new hippies, freaks, last utopians...and utopians concrete. I wish you an excellent 2006. For the French, Roland Castro to run for president in 2006 and become president in 2007. For the Americans, it is not even worth the hassle to talk about it. For the world, a return of utopias, a severe criticism of straight jacket ways of thinking, the re-creation of social bonds and more engagement and militancy.
Une autre façon de faire du commerce est possible, LE BONHEUR le montre depuis plus de 6 ans. Contrairement à ce que les médias et les institutions en place veulent nous faire croire, les avant-gardes audiovisuelles ne sont pas mortes, on ne parle simplement plus d'elles dans les informations mainstream. Idem pour ce qu'on appelait " l'underground" en musique, poésie ou art de la scene.
There is another way to make commerce possible and LE BONHEUR has shown it for the past six years. On the contrary to what the mainstream media and institutions would want us to believe, the audio-visual avant-garde is not dead, they simply do not speak about it anymore in the mainstream news. The same for what we call "the underground" in music, poetry and the art scene.
Je vous promets qu'au Bonheur, nous sommes en relation avec des milliers de groupes "libres" de par le monde: oui, ils existent bel et bien. Bref, on peut quand même encore rêver (?) et réaliser des choses improbables, comme des magasins de disques indépendants, des livres hors formats et des disques vinyls ainsi que des CD tirés à 50 exemplaires de bien meilleure qualité que ce que nous pondent à la chaîne, vous savez qui. VU A LA TV.
I make it clear to you that at Le Bonheur, we are in contact with thousands of "free" groups in the world : yes! they exist and are alive and well!
Briefly, still, can we dream (?) and do improbable things, like an independent record shop, out-size books and vinyl records. You know that D.I.Y. CD editions of 150 copies are of much better quality than mass produced factory fodder and you know who I'm talking about. AS SEEN ON TV!
Réaliser un top est toujours frustrant et limitatif, sorry pour les oubliés de cette année. Ils sont sans doute nombreux. Je tiens également à rendre hommage à tous les labels, artistes, groupes et associations réellement engagées ainsi qu'aux magnifiques productions libres de réussite financière que nous découvrons jour après jour. Pour moi le but d'un top de l'année n'est pas de signaler les meilleurs ventes, ni les gros coups de coeur mondiaux, pour cela il n'y a pas mieux que la revue WIRE, pour rester dans la qualité. Le propos du "Bonheur" est la découverte et la mise à disposition de niches, de productions improbables réalisées avec coeur. Nous essayons de donner à voir et à entendre de petites productions réalisées de par le monde et les mettons sur le même pied que des artistes plus reconnus.
It may be frustrating and limited for us to make a "best of list" and we are sorry for the ones who've been forgotten this year. I give respect to all the labels, artists, groups, collectives truly engaged in the struggle to create and to all the all magnificent and free ones who don't care just care about lining their pockets. For me the goal of making this "best of the year" is not to point to the best sales, nor to the things that everybody likes, for that there is nothing better than the reviews of THE WIRE, who do that on a quality level. The idea of Le Bonheur is to discover and to give a space to improbable and beautiful productions made from the heart. We try to to pay close attention to small productions made throughout the world and to put them on the same level as the most recognized artists.
Comme je le disais précédement, l'Underground et les avant-gardes sont vivantes de par le monde, elles ne sont simplement pas reconnues par les institutions consensuelles et frileuses. Elles sont noyées dans une production abondante et médiocre (pour rester aimable). La production musicale mondiale est extraordinaire, chaque jour au BONHEUR, nous découvrons des gens ayant quelque chose à dire, des musiciens libres, d'un talent énorme qui n'ont simplement pas envie de se compromettre dans des productions "politiquement correctes".
Like I said, the underground and avant-garde are thriving worldwide, they are simply not recognized by the conformist and backward looking institutions who drown in poor mass produced productions. The worldwide music production is simply amazing. Every day at Le Bonheur, we discover people with something to say, free musicians, extremely talented people who do not want simply to compromise themselves making "politically correct" productions.
Tous les jours ou presque, je m'émerveille grâce à ces artistes sans prétention qui produisent, non seulement de la musique de qualité mais également des objets qui sont bien plus qu'une simple marchandise manufacturée, qu'une bédé, qu'un CD ou DVD en plastique. Leur travail est toujours plus personnel, et les "mondes" de ces individualités viennent nous toucher en profondeur. Bien entendu, certains travaux demandent du temps, une approche personnelle, des conseils pertinents. Nous en sommes conscients, c'est pourquoi des postes d'écoute et de visionnnage sont toujours disponibles à tous au magasin, de même que mes conseils sincères ainsi que ceux de Christophe. Le coeur y est, même si les compétences sont imparfaites.
Almost every day, I am filled with wonder at these unpretentious artists who produce not only music of quality but objects which are something more than simple products, not just a stupid CD or DVD in a plastic case. The work of these artists is always more personal, and the "worlds" of these individuals touch us deeply and in a profound manner. Of course, for us and you, this work demands time, a personal approach, relevant discussion. That is why listening and viewing posts are always available at the store, as are the sincere council of Christophe and Thierry. The heart is there, even if competences are imperfect.
