The Intr-Version label has been growing years after years in the hearts of minimal and mixed genres music fans since more than 3 years now. With an eclectic catalogue going from the minimal post-rock of aMute to the abstract hip-hop of Ghislain Poirier and the electronica of Vitamins for you. But the goal is always the same : to create a real territory for sensual and dense experimentations. Le Petit Théâtre Mercelis, who already invited aMute 3 times and Akiyama one time, is proud to welcome some of their favorite performers as the starting point of their European Tour. Tangtype, one of the most promising electronic/acoustic Belgian band of nowadays will be opening the show.
MITCHELL AKYAMA (Can)
Toronto born, montreal based mitchell akiyama in a few short years has carved a niche for himself as one of canada's premier avant-garde electronic musicians. originally trained in classical music and jazz on piano and guitar, akiyama began composing electronic music six years ago. He has since come to incorporate traditional instruments and real world sound sources in his compositions, fusing the organic and digital. the results can be beautiful and lush, jarring and abrasive, but are, above all, always moving. He's the director of the Intr-Version label and the half of Désormais, one of Intr-Version cult band. He has been releasing materials and albums on labels such as Raster Noton, Alien8recordings, Force Inc, Eat This, List and last year on the Brussels based label Sub Rosa. His live shows are always unique and are not only laptop acts. It's a real time creation in which you will loose yourself. Magic.
aMute (Be)
aMute is the key project of Jérôme Deuson. Passionate about textures, instruments and dreams, Deuson delivered his critically acclaimed "a hundred dry trees" last year on Akiyama's imprint and since then played about 25 show in Europe in Canada. Working more and more as a band, aMute is also a real live emotion with the presence and abrasive side of Stephan Fedele who will play the drums all along the tour. For the Mercelis show they will be accompanied by Jean-François Brohée on the Violin and present some reworks of the album and some works from the forthcoming album.
TANGTYPE (Be)
Jean-François Brohée and Julie Cambier are Tangtype, one of the most exiting electronic duo that Brussels can offer to you. They recently released two tracks on a compilation made of the finest Belgian talents which is distributed by Bang! (called "I hate Electronics") after winning a music contest. Their music is a perfect mix between minimal jazz, experimental acoustic and fullfilled electronic essays. This will only be their second live show. Their album is announced to be out on the new Belgian imprint STILLL around next October.

2_____ IN STORE PERFORMANCE / STEFFEN BASHO-JUNGHANS
Sunday 17-04-2005 / 14:30
Experimental musician and visual artist Steffen Basho-Junghans is best known -- at least as far as music is concerned -- for his unusual guitar technique. His playing, which incorporates a wide variety of extended techniques and nods to North Indian raga and American folk music, is close in spirit to fellow guitarist John Fahey...
