Noise Driven Ambient Audio And Visuals is a compilation of
experimental noise/ambient videos created by C505 and music
by KNBS. A far cry from music videos, the pieces are more
analogous to experimental / abstract film and video
art. C505's aesthetic shuns the pursuit of 3D digital realism
and sanitized graphic design and instead embraces the layered
residue of analog distortions and glitches. Uniquely, both
the sound and video are created simultaneously by C505 and
KNBS
yielding a woven relationship that feels symbiotic instead
of driven by one or the other. C505s
favored techniques include, video feedback loops, video flicker
induction, CRT distortions created by magnetic fields and
capturing various visual
and audio static from a multitude of analog sources. Over
50 minutes of content, this DVD also contains guest director's
work such as Associates In Science, Lew Baldwin, Day-Dream,
Jonathan Turner and WeWorkForThem. |

Trisha Brown, one of the most acclaimed choreographers
of contemporary dance, first came to notice in New York in
the 1960s. Along with like-minded artists,Yvonne Rainer, Steve
Paxton and Simone Forti, she pushed the limits of what was
then considered appropriate movement for choreography, and
changed modern dance forever. Founding her company in 1970,
Brown developed her own choreography and style with her own
unique ideas of movement. The first DVD of this two DVD set
presents film and video footage by filmmakers, including Babette
Mangolte, Carlotta Schoolman and Jonathan Demme, of eighteen
of Brown’s major performances from 1966 to 1979. A companion
DVD is a conversation between Trisha Brown and art historian,
Klaus Kertess, in which Brown talks about her dance education,
early years in New York, work with Judson Dance Theater and
her fellow choreographers, as well as commenting on the creation
of her own innovative dances. |

and Film Preservation Associates has prepared for home video
release a DVD version of Unseen Cinema. The 7-disc box set
contains 155 films, running 19 hours and is scheduled for
release on October 18, 2005. The British Film Institute will
release a similar version sometime after that.
The DVD series represents 100 avant-garde,
professional, and amateur filmmakers working before World
War II and is considerably refined from the touring film
program. It is curated by Bruce Posner and produced by film
historian David Shepard, known for his high-quality DVD
restorations such as The Lost World, the Landmarks of Early
Cinema series, and many other cinema masterworks: The General
(Buster Keaton), The Birth of a Nation (D.W. Griffith),
and The Chaplin Essanay and Mutual comedies.
Posner and Shepard
have worked with the finest archival prints available, sometimes
piecing together sequences from many different elements
gathered from around the world. Each of the seven DVD programs
runs over 2.5 hours and is ordered in themes and chronological
date of production. Rare and wonderful treasures are to
be found on Image Entertaiment’s DVD of Unseen Cinema.

ALEJANDRO JODOROWSKI: El Topo DVD 39 euros
El Topo is Jodorowsky's unique spiritual western, which takes on the ritual violence of Sam Peckinpah and the grotesque humour of Sergio Leone to roughly sketch an apology on the oppression and arrogance of power. This film is a journey through tragedy and anarchy, myth and revolution, paganism and holy scripture, classicism and surrealism, artistic performance and cinematic action.
El Topo remains an essential, raw work of instinctive, visceral power created by one of the most visionary filmmakers in cinematic history.

Eisturzende neubauten : halber mensch (2005) DVD 24,5 euros
Pioneers of the industrial music genre, Berlin's Einsturzende Neubauten were avant-garde innovators of the highest caliber. The group's name is translated to mean "collapsing new buildings," and their revolutionary sound lived up to the implications of the moniker: along with contemporaries Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire, Einsturzende Neubauten aimed to destroy the mores of rock music. The group incorporated white noise and grating, sometimes excruciating vocals, as well as such uncommon "instruments" as construction materials, power tools, and clanging metal objects. The record HALBER MENSCH, released in 1986, exhibited a more structured arrangement, and was lauded by critics and fans alike; this release combines the album with the feature film made by the band as a promotional piece, creating a complete visual and aural experience. Songs include "Armenia," "Sehnsuch," "Z.N.S.," and "Der Tod ist ein Dandy."
